Workforce Growth
The NWDA promotes initiatives that help grow the workforce by
supporting people at the beginning and at the end of their
careers.
Skills Northwest
The Skills Northwest event takes place in February / March each
year and gives school pupils in the region the chance to get out of
the classroom and get a taste of the world of work.
Year In Industry
The annual Year In Industry (YINI) programme is run by the
Engineering Development Trust. The programme is open to Year 13
(upper sixth) students looking to work within the region’s
engineering, science and technology sectors.
Time & Experience
The NWDA has invested £240,000 in Time & Experience
(formerly Emeritus College) over three years until 2012. The
college will facilitate knowledge transfer, enterprise and
innovation by linking senior people to the projects and
organisations which can benefit from their expertise. Through its
flexible links with businesses - sometimes through "guilds" led by
partner organisations - the College offers opportunities for
part-time, interim, project-led or consultancy work.
