Skills and Education
The skills base of the Northwest workforce is critical to the
economic development of the region. The NWDA has a key role in
ensuring that training, education and skills development is meeting
the needs of employers and individuals. This will ensure that
the Northwest remains competitive and that businesses have the
skilled and motivated workforce they need to be productive.
To achieve success in this area it is essential to work with
other key partners in the region. This is achieved
through the Regional Skills Partnership (RSP). Each of the
partners in the RSP has a key area of focus. The NWDA's focus is
on:
- Influencing the development of national skills policy and
implementing effective solutions in the region
- Addressing sector skills challenges and priorities
- Developing leadership and management skills and
capacity
- Supporting the role of further and higher education in
transforming the regional economy
- Linking workless people to employment
- Integrating regional skills activity into Sub-Regional
Partnerships and key strategic sites
