Strategy and Policy
Working with all our partners, such as sub-regional
partnerships, local authorities, Urban Regeneration Companies and
Government Departments, the Agency develops and identifies the
region’s strategic priorities and the most appropriate strategy for
tackling them.
The Agency also aims to develop and provide leadership for the
engagement of the region in national Government policy.
Issues such as the Comprehensive Spending Review, Equality and
Diversity, Climate Change and Europe all require a strong and
united regional response.
However, the Agency also aims to facilitate and promote
discussion amongst ourselves and partners on other policy areas
that may affect the region. Important decisions on
city-regions, or helping unemployed people back to work, require
discussion and deliberation to find the most appropriate way to
respond to these vital strategic issues.
The NWDA has a responsibility to develop the Regional Economic Strategy on behalf of the
region and ensure that the region’s and the NWDA’s priorities are
based on a strong evidence base.
The Regional Economic Strategy sets out a twenty-year economic
strategy, together with the specific actions required in the next
three years. It sets a framework for regional, as well as
sub-regional and local action.
