How we appraise projects

The NWDA has a robust and visible appraisal process that meets certain criteria set out by the Treasury, The Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform, and in some cases the EU

Project Appraisal is the independent and objective process that is used by all Regional Development Agencies to:

  • Assess whether the project proposal is viable and worthwhile
  • Consider whether it is better than the alternative options
  • Identify the risks and scale of any likely impacts to ourselves and / or the delivery body
  • Identify who the key beneficiaries of the project are likely to be
  • Clearly document and communicate the conclusions and recommendations of the Appraisal Process
